The mirror comprises of an inverted breakfront pediment moulded with a band of stiff leaves above a frieze of applied mask, floral swags and lyres. Whilst each side is flanked by a pair of fluted ionic columns
A rather decorative piece, it contains its original mercury mirror plate which has begun to gently fox in a small number of areas. The gilt paint has some small and minor losses around the frame

The shape, style and form are all that of a larger kitchen table but now in a diminutive size. The curved ends add interest, whilst the pine has developed a lovely warm tone
Positively, the table has a multitude of potential uses. Either as a hall table topped with floral displays. A desk space for that compact home office due to its more than adequate leg clearance. Finally, a small apartment restricted by floor space would give the piece the prime opportunity to be utilised as a petite farmhouse table

Dating from around the mid 18th century, c.1740-1760
Of that period, constructed using oak, cottage cut design enabling easy manoeuvrability in those tight cottage spaces. A time before dovetail joints or screws. Simple dowels and nails to piece it together. Standing the test of time 260+ years later
Relatively untouched. The original timbers appear to be present, other than some modern timber added to the underside runners of the drawer. This would be due to wear throughout centuries of opening and closing the drawers
Four drawers sit upon one another, believed to be the original oak drawer bottoms still present. Almost oversized bracket feet give the drawers a sense of authority whilst sitting within a room

The tables themselves are mid 19th century and then painted at a later date by a skilled and talented French artist to what is most likely suit the surrounding decor of the property. White and creams form the base layer with a darker shade of green creating the decorative line work around each piece
Though a matching pair, evidence of their hand made nature can be seen. Due to hand carving, slight variations in the sweeps and curves add an honest and authentic appeal. Depths of wood alter due to the nature of using what timbers were available, before mass production
Beginning at the top, a sweeping galleried back sits above a pleasant surprise of a set of two curved drawers. Continuing the curvaceous nature, the body sits on cabriole legs and to add balance, a lower shelf adds an extra storage option

Very likely estate made and used in the servants quarters. Almost primitive design, the curvature in the legs, almost as if carved from the roots of the tree itself. Sculptural qualities are seen from every angle. A table that was made to that particular estates aesthetic taste, adding a unique quality to the table
The table has historic woodworm holes but can a French table be authentic without?!
The tabletop itself sits lower than an English equivalent, however a leg clearance of 60cm is still present which gives plenty of room for the vast majority of chairs with their occupier to fit comfortably underneath

The materials used for this style are unusual and shows quality craftsmanship to use timbers of this calibre
Aesthetically, the table sits incredibly well on gently splayed legs, creating the impression of a larger size. One central drawer runs through the underside of the tables plank top. The paintwork has worn in all high touch areas, predominantly the legs and throughout the face of the drawer
