Originally these drawers would have had a mahogany scumble. The telling sign being the red feet. This is the undercoat which was commonly used for this particular type of paintwork.
Now stripped, the timbers knotty appearance is full of of character and rustic charm. Contrasting the bulk, the original mahogany knobs add an extra element of originality and overall, the drawers have a feeling of home -

These drawers are quite possibly estate made due to the rather unusual yet interesting pair of top drawers frontage. These individual takes on design were primarily due to the original owners needs. However, like nowadays, there are the eccentrics who enjoy unique aesthetic design
