Multiple layers of paint have been dry scraped back to the drawers original whites and creams. With it’s tram line details and strap work, no expense was spared when making the piece, also shown by the thickness of pine used. It was built to last and has clearly stood the test of time.
The worn pine plank top gives us a glimpse into how many hands have passed over it

Built using the highest quality pitch pine indicated by its weight
Quite possibly the only cupboard of this type in the country. Found in a barn in Bristol, it had layers of later paints and stains. Carefully and meticulously removing the layers until we reached the original vibrant red. With dashes of orange symbolic to the flame, the darker areas almost symbolising the thick dark smoke. The most incredible part of this cupboard though is the remnants of the word ‘Fire hose’. Likely painted black but lost over time leaving its charred remains…
