Victorian overmantle mirror
English and from the final quarter of the 19th century c.1875-1900
Originally gilt. Over a lifetime, the mirror had multiple layers of paint which in turn have been removed down to an early 20th century cream paint. The original gilt is revealed throughout various areas of the frame
A rather rustic finish, adding decorative appeal. The mirror plate itself has some relatively small amounts of foxing whilst larger sections have begun to smear and fog with the telltale brown tints

19th century English pier mirror, gilt painted at a later date
The mirror comprises of an inverted breakfront pediment moulded with a band of stiff leaves above a frieze of applied mask, floral swags and lyres. Whilst each side is flanked by a pair of fluted ionic columns
A rather decorative piece, it contains its original mercury mirror plate which has begun to gently fox in a small number of areas. The gilt paint has some small and minor losses around the frame
