19th century English pier mirror, gilt painted at a later date
The mirror comprises of an inverted breakfront pediment moulded with a band of stiff leaves above a frieze of applied mask, floral swags and lyres. Whilst each side is flanked by a pair of fluted ionic columns
A rather decorative piece, it contains its original mercury mirror plate which has begun to gently fox in a small number of areas. The gilt paint has some small and minor losses around the frame
An interior design staple. Bold and imposing in all of the right ways
