    French in origin and dating from the 18th century into the 19th with adaptions

    Provincial French furniture is not authentic without an old case of woodworm and this is not an exception. To the surface throughout and primarily in the lower regions around the legs. An old repair adds strength to the rear leg

    A pair of drawers are above a shelved cupboard. Decorative brass hardware, the doors have a centralised fluted pilaster. Below, a carved floral motif, likely an indication to its region. Claw feet at the frontage hint at the element of wealth

    French pine sideboard c.1875

    Rustic pine sideboard

    French in origin. From the early part of the fourth quarter of the 19th century

    Interestingly, this would have been used to store the coins paid by citizens for their taxes. This is evident through the coin slot and the small drawer. Internally, an oversized lock is still present which would have deterred any potential thieves

    More than likely, this piece was a buffet and was converted for use. Predominantly, desks of this style are more commonly seen

    Abundant with rustic charm, naive repairs throughout its life add to its rather interesting story
