Pair of fox paintings
£360.00
Pair of vintage fox paintings on board
Dating from around the mid 20th century, painted by an amateur artist. Placed in 19th century gilt frames which have had a faux ebony finish
The paintings have a slightly macabre aura about them. Emotion pours from the facial expressions of the animal. Polar opposites, on one hand, you have the beast; feral, almost foaming at the mouth. The other, a smile; almost domesticated. Quite possibly the two ends of the spectrum as to how the fox is viewed
The beast has a tear throughout the main body. For reasons unknown, larger canines have been crudely added at a later date. However, these imperfections only aid in the dark feel of the paintings
Dimensions of ‘The Beast’: 24.5cm x 35cm and the frame is 42.5cm x 53.5cm
Dimensions of ‘Domesticated’: 28.5cm x 36cm and the frame is 47cm x 55cm
