A handsome early 20th-century Jacobean-style oak bureau bookcase, full of character and beautifully proportioned. Crafted in richly toned oak, the piece features a central fall-front bureau flanked by tall glazed cupboards, creating an attractive combination of display, writing and storage space.
The bureau opens to reveal a fitted interior with small compartments and a practical writing surface, while the lower panelled cupboard provides additional concealed storage. Glazed side sections offer generous shelving for books, glassware or treasured objects.
Decorative carved edging, traditional brass hardware and striking bulbous turned front legs give the piece its distinctive Jacobean character. The oak has developed a wonderfully warm colour and natural patina, with age-related marks and wear adding to its authentic appeal.
An unusual and highly functional antique piece that would make a wonderful statement in a living room, study or dining space, equally suited for use as a writing bureau, bookcase, drinks cabinet or display cabinet.
